Court Jails Schoolteacher 12 Years for Defiling Student in Anambra

A Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka, Anambra State, has sentenced Pascal Ofomata, a 34-year-old schoolteacher, to 12 years’ imprisonment for sexually assaulting his 11-year-old male student.

 

The court’s decision was delivered by Justice Peace Otti, who found Ofomata guilty of rape and inflicting physical harm.

 

The defendant was accused of committing the heinous act against his junior secondary school student. The court’s verdict serves as a stern warning to individuals who engage in such acts, particularly those in positions of trust, such as teachers.

 

This case highlights the importance of protecting children from abuse and ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions.
