Umahi Denies Tinubu Is Favouring South in Infrastructure Projects

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has refuted alleons that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is disproportionately favouring the southern region of Nigeria in infrastructure development.

Speaking during an interview, Umahi emphasized that the current federal government is committed to equitable distribution of road and infrastructure projects across all geopolitical zones.

He described the claims of bias as unfounded and politically motivated.

“There is no sectionalism in the infrastructure projects being executed under this administration,” Umahi stated. “The President has approved projects in the North, South, East, and West. Everything is based on national interest and technical importance, not regional sentiment.”

The Minister highlighted several ongoing projects in the northern region and other parts of the country to back his claims, insisting that the administration is focused on uniting the country through inclusive development.

The allegations had sparked debate in some quarters, with critics accusing the government of neglecting certain regions.

However, Umahi’s remarks aim to reassure Nigerians of the government’s commitment to fairness and national cohesion.
