Dangote Refinery Offers Marketers Free Delivery of Petrol, Diesel Nationwide

In a major development set to reshape Nigeria’s downstream oil sector, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a groundbreaking nationwide initiative to deliver petrol and diesel for free to licensed marketers and other key consumers. This move is expected to slash distribution costs, revive inactive petrol stations, and stimulate economic activities across the country.

The free delivery service, which takes effect from August 15, 2025, will apply to registered independent marketers, members of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), as well as end-users such as manufacturers, telecom operators, aviation companies, and other bulk fuel consumers.

As part of the logistics rollout, Dangote Refinery is deploying a fleet of 4,000 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks, supported by over 100 daughter booster stations across Nigeria. This CNG-powered distribution system not only enhances efficiency but aligns with the push toward cleaner, more sustainable energy transport solutions.

Speaking at the announcement, officials from Dangote Group noted that this initiative is designed to eliminate the heavy logistics costs burdening marketers, especially those operating in remote and underserved parts of the country.

“This is about making energy accessible and affordable. By removing transportation hurdles, we can get fuel to places that have long been abandoned and revive dormant petrol stations that once served local communities,” the statement read.

In addition to the free delivery, the refinery is also offering a credit scheme: any marketer that purchases a minimum of 500,000 litres of fuel is eligible for another 500,000 litres on credit, repayable within two weeks, provided they present a valid bank guarantee. The aim is to help bulk buyers manage cash flow while ensuring steady availability of refined products.

The company credited this bold initiative to the support it receives under the federal government’s “Naira-for-Crude” programme, which allows for local currency purchases of crude oil to keep domestic refining viable amid foreign exchange challenges.

Officials added that the move is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on unlocking economic opportunities, easing inflation, creating jobs, and strengthening investor confidence.

The registration window for marketers wishing to benefit from this free delivery offer will remain open from June 16 to August 15, 2025.

With the refinery’s full production capacity gradually coming online and this free distribution scheme about to begin, industry observers say Dangote Refinery is poised to become the most influential force in Nigeria’s oil supply chain, offering a domestic alternative to costly fuel imports and logistics bottlenecks.
