APC Controlling All Opposition Parties in Nigeria, Alleges Sowore
Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has made a shocking claim that all opposition parties in Nigeria, except his African Action Congress (AAC), are under the influence and control of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In an interview on Rubbin’ Minds, a Channels Television talk show, Sowore alleged that most of Nigeria’s opposition parties were deliberately created or co-opted by the APC as “special-purpose vehicles” for political convenience.
According to Sowore, his research has revealed that many of the 18 registered political parties in the country are not genuine opposition parties, but rather parties that were created by the APC to serve strategic interests.
He claimed that these smaller parties, which he referred to as “feeder parties” or “special-purpose vehicles,” are often funded by the APC during election seasons to further the ruling party’s agenda.
Sowore explained that these parties are used by the APC to file legal challenges that can be manipulated later in the ruling party’s favor. He alleged that some candidates or parties are specifically created to help the APC with legal challenges, and that they are often used to legitimize the APC’s actions or to create a false sense of opposition.
The AAC, which Sowore founded in 2018, is the only party that he believes is a genuine opposition party. He claimed that the AAC is not beholden to the APC or any other party, and that it is committed to challenging the status quo and fighting for the rights of Nigerians.
