Obi Committing Political Suicide by Remaining in Labour Party

Kenneth Okonkwo, a Labour Party chieftain and former spokesperson for Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, has made scathing remarks about Obi’s leadership. According to Okonkwo, Obi is betraying himself and committing political suicide by staying in the Labour Party despite alleged internal issues.
Okonkwo claims Obi is aware of the party’s problems but chooses to remain silent, suggesting that Obi is in cahoots with the party’s leadership.
He also alleges that Obi approved all primaries organized by the Abure faction, including those in Igbo, Edo, Ondo, and Anambra, and even campaigned for the candidates.
Okonkwo accuses Obi of being a “politician of convenience” rather than conviction, implying that Obi prioritizes personal interests over party loyalty.
This criticism comes amid growing tensions within the Labour Party, with Okonkwo previously expressing dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership and questioning Julius Abure’s legitimacy as chairman.
As a prominent figure in the Labour Party and a Nollywood actor, Okonkwo’s comments carry significant weight. His criticism of Obi’s leadership highlights the complex dynamics within Nigeria’s opposition parties.
