MOSOP Hails as Courageous, Tinubu’s Pardon for Ogoni 9

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has hailed President Bola Tinubu’s pardon of the Ogoni Nine, describing the gesture as a historic and courageous step towards justice and national healing.
The Ogoni Nine, executed in 1995, include prominent figures such as Ken Saro-Wiwa, Nubari Kiobel, Nordu Eawo, Saturday Doobee, John Kpuinen, Paul Levura, Daniel Gbokoo, Felix Nuate, and Baribor Bera.
MOSOP President Fegalo Nsuke praised President Tinubu’s decision, saying it distinguishes him as a leader who listens to the cry of the marginalized.
Nsuke emphasized that the pardon is a significant step towards justice and national healing, and called for the full exoneration of the Ogoni Nine.
The pardon is seen as a long-overdue recognition of the injustices suffered by the Ogoni people and a move towards healing and reconciliation. The Ogoni Nine were executed during the military regime of General Sani Abacha, and their case has been a symbol of the Mosop’s call for exoneration is a reminder of the need for accountability and justice in Nigeria’s past.
