It’s Rumour, I’m Not Defecting to APC, Assures Dele Momodu

Media mogul and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Dele Momodu, has dismissed rumours of his potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Momodu, a former presidential aspirant, cited the ruling party’s authoritarian leadership style and lack of internal democracy as the primary reasons for his decision.
In an interview monitored on Channels Television on Wednesday, Momodu unequivocally stated, “I definitely won’t join the APC. That one is out of the question.”
He emphasized that his values as a democrat were incompatible with the APC’s autocratic system, where “one man will dictate to able-bodied adults who have worked all their lives and say that he is the lord of the manor.”
Momodu’s comments come amid growing speculation about his potential defection, fueled by the ongoing internal crises within the PDP.
However, the Ovation Magazine publisher and two-time presidential hopeful made it clear that his dissatisfaction with his party does not translate into support for the APC.
Earlier on Tuesday, Momodu had admitted that his commitment to the PDP was under strain, saying, “My body is in the PDP, but my soul has left.”
Despite this, he remains resolute in his decision not to join the APC, citing fundamental differences in their values and leadership styles.
The PDP has been grappling with factional tensions and leadership struggles, prompting concerns that some party stalwarts may be seeking alternative platforms.
However, Momodu’s statement serves as a strong indication that he will not be joining the APC, despite the challenges facing his party.
