Fire Outbreak as 33,000 Liter Fuel Tanker Suddenly Burst Into Flames in Ibadan

A devastating fire outbreak occurred on Tuesday in the Odinjo area of Ibadan, Oyo State, when a 33,000 litres capacity petrol tanker suddenly caught fire.

The incident, which happened near Muslim Grammar School on the Lagos-Ibadan highway, sent shockwaves of panic through the community, forcing residents and shop owners to flee for safety.

Fortunately, despite the intensity of the fire, no lives were lost in the incident, thanks to the prompt response of the Oyo State Fire Service.

The timely arrival of the firemen prevented the situation from escalating into a major tragedy.

The fire broke out in the afternoon, causing a massive buildup of traffic on the Lagos-Ibadan highway.

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and other security agencies quickly intervened to take control of traffic in the area, preventing further chaos.

The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Rev’d Akinyemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident, stating that his team was deployed to the scene to contain the situation.

“We have deployed our men to the area to arrest the situation. I am yet to get the details of the incident,” he said.

As at the time of filing this report, the extent of the damage caused by the fire was still unknown. However, Rev’d Akinyinka assured that there were no reports of any fatalities.

“Also, there is no record of any life lost to the incident,” he said.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of petroleum tankers on Nigerian roads, and the need for more effective measures to prevent such accidents.

The authorities have promised to investigate the cause of the fire and take necessary steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.

For now, the people of Odinjo and surrounding areas are breathing a sigh of relief, grateful that the incident did not result in any loss of life.

The swift response of the emergency services has been hailed as a major factor in preventing a disaster.
