Edo Governor Excited by Reduced Travel Time Due to Repairs on Benin-Iruekpem Road

The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed his delight at the significant reduction in travel time on the Benin-Iruekpen section of the federal road, following his administration’s intervention on the route.

The governor, who recently traveled along the road, revealed that the journey, which previously took days to complete, now takes just 45 minutes.

According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo attributed the improvement to his administration’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which has led to tangible infrastructure gains for the people of Edo State.

The governor’s intervention on the Benin-Iruekpen road is a key component of his administration’s efforts to improve the state’s infrastructure and enhance the ease of doing business in Edo State.

The Benin-Iruekpen road, which connects Benin City to Iruekpen in Esan West Local Government Area, was previously in a deplorable state, making it difficult for commuters to travel on the route.

However, with the state government’s intervention, the road has been significantly improved, reducing travel time and making it easier for people to access the area.

Governor Okpebholo, who was visibly satisfied with the progress made, said, “Until now, it could take days to get to Iruekpen via this road.

“Today, it takes only 45 minutes because the road is now smooth and far more accessible. This is a testament to our commitment to improving the lives of our people and making Edo State a better place to live and do business.”

The governor’s statement has been welcomed by commuters and residents of the area, who have expressed their gratitude for the improved road condition.

The reduction in travel time is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, as it will facilitate the movement of goods and services, and make it easier for people to access markets and other economic opportunities.

The Edo State Government’s intervention on the Benin-Iruekpen road is part of its broader efforts to improve the state’s infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and other critical facilities.

The government has also embarked on several other projects, including the construction of new roads, the rehabilitation of existing ones, and the provision of other essential infrastructure, such as water and electricity.
