Wike Assures PDP Will Weather Current Challenges

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will overcome its present tribulations.
Wike articulated this sentiment while hosting the party’s stakeholders, known as the “Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP,” from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT, in Abuja on Monday.
Among the stakeholders present were former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, former Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue, and former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia.
Additionally, the meeting was attended by the National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Philip Aduda.
Former federal and state lawmakers, along with several zonal and state party executives, were also in attendance.
While addressing the stakeholders, the minister underscored the importance of ensuring the PDP’s longevity, portraying the concerned stakeholders as individuals dedicated to the party’s survival.
“All of you present are those committed to the survival of our party, not merely speaking on television or in newspapers, but actively engaged at various levels,” he remarked.
He asserted that the actions of the G5 Governors had brought stability to the nation, highlighting the necessity of adhering to the constitutions of both the party and Nigeria.
“You may favor us or disdain us; the undeniable truth is that if the G5 had not made the decisions we did, this country would have faced turmoil.
“It matters not who the beneficiary was, but the right course of action was imperative, and we continue to uphold that decision.
“We have consistently stressed that the party’s constitution, as well as the nation’s, should be honored,” he insisted.
Wike emphasized that as an opposition party, PDP members should refrain from acting with impunity, noting that no opposition party operates with such disregard.
“Our mission is to conciliate and unite people, avoiding the dismissive attitude of telling them to go to hell.
“Let us not succumb to greed; let us not allow pride to destroy our party,” he advised.
In his address, Ortom contended that he who finances the endeavor dictates the direction and challenged anyone in Nigeria to identify a greater contributor to the PDP’s progress than Wike.
He stated that President Bola Tinubu recognizes the importance of a multiparty system, which is why he appointed Wike as the FCT minister.
“For various reasons, the PDP has made numerous errors, resulting in our current predicament,” he reflected. (NAN)
