Remi Tinubu Conferred with Ugosimba I of Enugu During Visit to State

In a grand ceremony held on Tuesday, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, was conferred with the prestigious chieftaincy title of “Ugosimba I of Enugu” by traditional rulers in Enugu State.
The title, which translates to “Jewel of Empowerment” in Igbo, is a testament to Senator Tinubu’s tireless efforts to empower women and drive positive change across the country.
The recognition is a significant milestone in Senator Tinubu’s advocacy work, which has focused on promoting women’s rights, education, and healthcare through her Renewed Hope Initiative.
The initiative has provided vital support to women-owned businesses, girls’ education, and healthcare services for the less privileged.
During her working visit to Enugu State, Senator Tinubu distributed professional kits to midwives across the South-East region, further demonstrating her commitment to empowering women and improving healthcare outcomes.
In her remarks, Senator Tinubu emphasized the importance of national unity, urging Nigerians to look beyond party lines and embrace the country’s diversity as a source of strength. “Nigeria is a beautiful country, and no one should hinder anyone from visiting any part of the country to experience this,” she said. “We pray that our security will improve, and Nigeria will become a safer place for all.”
Senator Tinubu also called on traditional rulers to support her advocacy campaigns against cervical cancer, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and female genital mutilation, describing them as “the eyes and ears of government at the grassroots.” She stressed the need for collective action to address these critical health issues, saying, “Irrespective of party affiliation, we have to grow this nation.”
The conferment of the chieftaincy title on Senator Tinubu is a significant acknowledgement of her dedication to social development and women’s empowerment. As “Ugosimba I of Enugu,” she is expected to continue her advocacy work, inspiring positive change and empowering women across Nigeria.
The ceremony was attended by traditional rulers, dignitaries, and community leaders from Enugu State, who praised Senator Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerian women and her tireless efforts to promote national unity. The event marked a significant milestone in Senator Tinubu’s distinguished career as a champion of women’s rights and social development.
