Russia Swarms Ukraine with Barrage of Drones Attacks

Russia unleashed a barrage of 479 drones on Ukraine, marking a record high, with the western region of Rivne bearing the brunt of the attack.

This region had previously been largely spared from such assaults. The Ukrainian military reported damage across multiple regions, with the Rivne region suffering the most significant impact. Regional Governor Oleksandr Koval confirmed that 70 buildings, including residential homes and a nursery, were damaged.

Russia targeted an airfield near the village of Dubno in the Rivne region, claiming it was a retaliatory strike against Ukrainian attacks on Russian military airfields.

The attack involved Iranian-designed Shahed drones, which Russia has been using extensively in its campaign against Ukraine.

Ukraine’s air force recorded enemy air strikes in 10 locations, but fortunately, there were no reports of mass casualties or fatalities.

In a tit-for-tat escalation, Ukraine claimed to have launched a drone strike on a Russian electronics factory in Cheboskary, Chuvashia, approximately 600 kilometers east of Moscow.

The factory, VNIIR, allegedly produced components for Russian drones, specifically antennas for Shahed drones. Chuvashia Governor Oleg Nikolayev reported that two drones fell on the factory’s territory, forcing the facility to temporarily suspend production.

Russia’s defense ministry justified its strikes as retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on Russian military airfields, including those in Siberia.

Ukraine’s military also reported launching a strike on the Russian factory, claiming it was a strategic target

Meanwhile, Russia reported a Ukrainian strike in its border Kursk region, which killed a 64-year-old man in the Rylsky district.

Acting Governor Alexander Khinstein confirmed the incident, stating the strike hit a cultural-service center.
