Former First Lady Patience Jonathan Now PhD Holder

Patience Jonathan, wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has successfully earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology, Guidance, and Counselling from Ignatius Ajuru University of Education. She received her PhD during the institution’s 43rd Postgraduate Convocation Ceremony.
In a recent testimony at Streams of Joy International Church, Patience shared her remarkable academic journey, marked by perseverance and determination. Despite facing skepticism and frustration, she overcame obstacles to achieve her goal.
Patience recounted her experiences, saying, “I thought I wouldn’t make it, but God encouraged me, saying, ‘If my children can do it, why can’t you?'”
The former First Lady’s academic pursuit was not without its challenges. She faced difficulties with assignments and high expectations from lecturers, which nearly discouraged her from continuing.
However, Patience’s faith and determination kept her going. She described the three-year program as feeling like an eternity but credited divine support for her perseverance.
Patience’s achievement serves as an inspiration to others. She emphasized that age should not be a barrier to education, encouraging others to pursue their goals with determination and hard work.
“There is no age limit to education,” Patience said.
