Lagos LG Polls: Comprehensive List of APC’s 57 Chairmanship Candidates Anticipated to be Unveiled by LASIEC as Deadline for Party Withdrawal Closes

With the expiration of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) deadline for party-led substitution or withdrawal of candidates, the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with other political parties, are now expected to have finalized their chairmanship and vice-chairmanship candidates for the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for July 2025 across the 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

According to LASIEC’s electoral timetable issued in April 2025, political parties were required to submit any candidate withdrawals or substitutions by Saturday, May 31, 2025, through a written notification endorsed by the party’s secretary. The commission specified in Item VII (i) of the official guidelines that:

“A political party may withdraw the nomination of its candidate by notice in writing, signed by the secretary of the political party and delivered to the Commission between Thursday, May 29 and Saturday, May 31, 2025,” the provision says.

This deadline has now passed, effectively closing any legal avenue for intra-party adjustments, except through any covert arrangements or breaches of the LASIEC guidelines.

However, candidates themselves still possess a window for withdrawal, with LASIEC stipulating:

“A candidate withdrawing his/her nomination shall indicate in writing to that effect to his/her political party which shall forward same to the Commission between Monday, June 2 and Monday, June 9, 2025,” it says.

As per the latest reports, no candidate withdrawals have been disclosed, thereby solidifying the APC’s roster ahead of the impending grassroots electoral contest.
