Lagos APC reunites Tinubu receives sanwo Olu GAC

In a symbolic show of unity, Governor Sanwo-Olu and Lagos APC elders met President Tinubu in Ikoyi, reaffirming loyalty and ending weeks of political tension.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and members of the Lagos Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) on Sunday paid a high-profile visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his private residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The meeting comes amid swirling speculation about tensions within the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has been widely interpreted as a public reconciliation effort.

The delegation’s visit, which coincided with the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, followed a series of political developments that had fueled talk of a rift, including Sanwo-Olu’s noticeable absence from recent federal events held in Lagos and the controversial removal and reinstatement of Lagos House Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.

During the gathering, members of the GAC and Governor Sanwo-Olu were seen prostrating before President Tinubu a culturally significant gesture of respect and allegiance.

Tinubu, in turn, reportedly declared, “It’s all over now. All is forgiven,” signaling a clear end to the perceived discord.

Speaking after the meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the President and dismissed any rumors of division.

“This visit was to celebrate Eid with Mr. President and to express, once again, our commitment to his leadership and the Renewed Hope Agenda. Our unity remains strong, and we are focused on delivering good governance to the people of Lagos,” he said.

Observers note that the symbolic nature of the visit especially the deference shown to Tinubu reinforces his continued stature as the political patriarch of Lagos and a national stabilizer within the ruling APC.

For many, the optics of the event sent a clear message: Lagos APC is intact, and the center is holding.

Political analysts believe the move could help ease internal tensions and consolidate support as the administration deepens its reform agenda.

With 2027 on the horizon, the public show of unity may also be a strategic reset to maintain political dominance in the state.

The meeting underscores Tinubu’s enduring influence in shaping political outcomes in Lagos and across the country. More than just a reunion, Sunday’s event was a statement of alignment, loyalty, and readiness for the battles ahead.
