Nigerian Youths Warned on Dire Consequences of Substance Abuse

The Network Against Corruption and Trafficking (NACAT) has sounded the alarm over the escalating problem of substance abuse among young Nigerians.
According to Stanley Ugagbe, NACAT’s Operational Manager, the younger generation, particularly students, must be aware of the harsh consequences of indulging in illicit activities.
At the launch of the Student Network Against Corruption and Trafficking at Dorben College of Digital Technology in Abuja, Ugagbe emphasized the importance of educating students about the dangers of substance abuse and corruption. He cautioned that even minor infractions can have severe repercussions, potentially tarnishing a young person’s reputation and future prospects.
Ugagbe urged students to exercise self-control and seek help when needed, stressing that a single misguided decision can have far-reaching and devastating consequences. He reminded them that the law is unforgiving and that one mistake can leave an indelible mark on their record.
To build a brighter future, Ugagbe encouraged students to focus on their education, personal values, and community support. He exhorted them to protect their future and rise above the pitfalls of substance abuse and negative influences.
Joy Tomo, NACAT’s Programme Manager, outlined the objectives of the newly launched club, which include promoting advocacy, civic engagement, and ethical leadership among students.
She described the initiative as a national movement, urging students to take the lead in combating corruption and societal decay.
