Political Brickbats as Atiku, APC Engage in War of Words

An intense political battle is brewing in Nigeria as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) engage in hit exchanges over the country’s economic struggles and the upcoming 2027 presidential elections.

Atiku has warned that the 2027 polls will be a verdict on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, with his media adviser, Mazi Paul Ibe, dismissing APC’s claims that Atiku is driven by self-interest.

According to Ibe, the APC’s accusations are baseless, and Atiku’s efforts are motivated by the desire of Nigerians for a better life.

He criticized the Tinubu administration’s record, citing the slow pace of infrastructure development, including the completion of only a fraction of a major road project. Ibe also highlighted the country’s dire socio-economic conditions, including rising poverty and child malnutrition.

Atiku Abubakar’s integrity has been defended by Ibe, who pointed to his successful business career and investments in his political campaigns.

He urged the APC to focus on governance rather than fixation on Atiku’s activities, saying it’s time for the ruling party to use the remainder of its term to improve the lives of Nigerians.

The 2027 elections are shaping up to be a pivotal moment for Nigeria, with Ibe asserting that the contest will be between President Tinubu and the collective aspirations of the Nigerian people.

As the political temperature rises, it remains to be seen how the APC and Atiku Abubakar will navigate the treacherous landscape ahead of the polls.

One thing is certain, however: the outcome of the 2027 elections will have far-reaching consequences for Nigeria’s future.
