Nollywood Star Biola Adebayo Confirms End of Three-Year Marriage, Pledges Peaceful Co-Parenting

Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Biola Adebayo, has officially confirmed the end of her three-year marriage to her husband, Oluwaseyi Akinrinde.

The announcement came on Tuesday, June 3, via a heartfelt Instagram post that not only addressed the separation but also reaffirmed the couple’s commitment to peacefully co-parenting their son.

The actress, known for her roles in Yoruba-language films and her dynamic presence in the Nigerian film industry, shared that the marriage had in fact ended over a year ago—back in April 2024. Her revelation was posted on the occasion of Akinrinde’s birthday, in a message that was both candid and filled with goodwill.

“Happy birthday to my ex-husband and my baby daddy. I pray that grace will abound unto you. I pray you find peace in all your ways. May God continue to light your path and bless you beyond your expectations in Jesus’ name,” Adebayo wrote.

In the same post, Adebayo addressed her followers directly, stating:
“Yes, you heard me right! My husband and I have been separated since April last year, but we have decided to maturely and peacefully co-parent our dear son who means everything to us.”

The couple, who married on April 7, 2021, welcomed their first child via surrogacy in April 2023. Adebayo had previously shared the joy and struggles surrounding their journey to parenthood, having been open about fertility challenges and her deep desire to become a mother.

Reflecting on the emotional difficulty of the past year, the actress admitted:
“I wished it worked, but it’s better to stay alive to tell the story. While I go about making other people happy during the day, my pillow is drenched with my own tears almost every night. But I gain strength from Christ who loves me eternally and gave Himself for me.”

Her message struck a chord with fans and fellow celebrities alike, many of whom have taken to social media to express support and admiration for her courage. The post also served as a broader call for empathy:
“Let’s learn to be kind to people. You have no idea what others are going through until they say it,” she urged.

Biola Adebayo’s transparency in sharing such a personal chapter of her life has drawn praise from those who see her as a role model for strength, especially in a society where marital issues are often kept behind closed doors.

As she continues to focus on her career and raising her son, the actress is also advocating for mental and emotional well-being, reminding her audience that healing is not only possible but necessary.
