IPOB, ESN Arms Supplier Nabbed in Anambra by Security Operatives
Security operatives have arrested a man suspected of supplying arms to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Anambra State.
The arrest was made in a sting operation carried out by a combined team of security agencies, including the police, Department of State Services (DSS), and the military.
According to sources, the suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was apprehended in a hideout in Anambra State, where he was allegedly storing and distributing arms and ammunition to IPOB and ESN operatives.
The security operatives reportedly recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition, including AK-47 rifles, pistols, and explosives, from the suspect’s hideout.
The arrest is seen as a significant milestone in the efforts of the security agencies to curb the activities of IPOB and ESN, which have been linked to a series of violent attacks and kidnappings in the South-East region.
The groups have been accused of using arms and explosives to carry out their operations, and the arrest of the suspected arms supplier is expected to deal a major blow to their activities.
The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect is currently being interrogated and will be charged to court soon.
“We have arrested a suspect who is believed to be supplying arms to IPOB and ESN operatives in Anambra State.
“The suspect is currently being interrogated, and we will soon charge him to court for his alleged role in fueling violence and insecurity in the state,” said the state police commissioner.
The arrest has been hailed as a major success by the security agencies, which have been working tirelessly to restore peace and security in the South-East region.
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has commended the security operatives for their bravery and professionalism, stating that the arrest is a testament to the determination of the police to rid the country of crime and violence.
The arrest of the suspected arms supplier is also expected to have significant implications for the security situation in the South-East region.
With the suspect’s alleged supply chain disrupted, IPOB and ESN operatives may find it more difficult to access arms and ammunition, which could lead to a reduction in violent attacks and kidnappings in the region.
As the investigation into the suspect’s activities continues, the security agencies are urging members of the public to provide information that could lead to the arrest of other suspects involved in the supply of arms to IPOB and ESN.
The government has also assured the public that it will do everything possible to protect lives and property, and to restore peace and security in the South-East region.
