Seyi Tinubu Deserves Support, Not Antagonism, Says Babarinde

A former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in South Africa, Mr. Bola Babarinde, has come out in strong support of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a young man any father would be proud of.
Babarinde, who is also the General Secretary of Renewed Hope Global, made this statement on Saturday in Lagos, emphasizing that Seyi Tinubu deserves support rather than a campaign of calumny against him.
According to Babarinde, Seyi Tinubu has demonstrated courage, patriotism, and a passion for public service, making him a symbol of youthful involvement in politics and a beacon for Nigerian youth.
“Today, Seyi stands as a symbol of youthful involvement in politics and a beacon for Nigerian youth. His courage and patriotism should be commended,” he said.
Babarinde noted that Seyi Tinubu played an active and visible role in his father’s campaign during the 2023 general elections, organizing rallies, distributing food supplies, and initiating empowerment programs aimed at voter engagement and political participation.
He said that Seyi’s contributions helped shape the successful outcome of the 2023 elections for the APC, the platform on which his father was elected.
Despite facing criticism for remaining actively involved in national and international engagements alongside his father, Babarinde insisted that Seyi deserves recognition, not condemnation.
“Enough of the campaign of calumny. Seyi Tinubu deserves our support, not merely because of who his father is, but because of the values and dedication he himself represents,” he said.
Babarinde observed that historically, children of political icons rarely appear in public political arenas, but Seyi Tinubu has broken from this tradition, establishing himself as a significant figure in Nigerian politics beyond the borders of his native Lagos State.
He said that Seyi’s commitment to public service and the democratic process serves as a lesson to the political elite who shelter their children abroad, detached from the realities of the Nigerian state.
“Despite having the means to live a life of comfort overseas, Seyi chose instead to serve and engage with his motherland,” Babarinde concluded. He added that Seyi’s decision to remain actively involved in national and international engagements alongside his father is a testament to his dedication to the country and its people.
The APC chieftain’s statement is seen as a strong endorsement of Seyi Tinubu’s involvement in politics and a call to Nigerians to support and encourage him in his endeavors. With his father’s administration still in its early days, Seyi Tinubu is expected to continue playing a significant role in shaping the country’s future, and Babarinde’s statement is a vote of confidence in his abilities and dedication to public service.
