PDP Members in Esit Eket LG, Decamp to APC

Thousands of members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Esit Eket local government area of Akwa Ibom state have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of Governor Umo Eno’s planned defection.

The mass defection, which took place in Ward 9 of Esit Eket, was led by a former local government chairmanship aspirant, Eseme Udi, who expressed his dissatisfaction with the PDP and pledged to work towards ensuring that the APC takes over the state.

According to Udi, the people of Ward 9 have been marginalized, deprived, and oppressed by the PDP, and are now seeking a better alternative in the APC.

“We are tired of being neglected. The people were just waiting for someone to lead the way, and that time has come. I have seen what the APC has done at the national level, and I believe there’s hope in the party. We are convinced that the APC will treat our people better than how PDP treated them,” he said.

The APC in Esit Eket Ward 9, led by Ward Chairman Mr. Samuel Akpama, warmly welcomed Udi and his co-defectors to the party. Akpama advised the new members to be humble and work towards the growth of the party, adding that they will benefit from the party’s dividends.

The Esit Eket chapter Chairman, Mr. Daniel Assam, described the defection as a “movement” rather than decamping, and assured the new members of equal rights.

He urged them to respect the party’s constitution and work together to achieve their goals.

Dr. Usoro Akpanuso, the immediate past legislator who represented Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency at the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, attributed the defection to the Lord’s doing, saying it’s a sign of the party’s growing strength.

He praised Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his leadership, saying he is the brain behind the growth of APC in Akwa Ibom State.

Deputy Leader of APC in Esit Eket local Government Area, Prince Enobong Harry, welcomed Udi and his supporters to the party, saying that Ward 9 is lucky to have a philanthropist like Udi join them.

He advised the new members to work together to build a stronger, more prosperous community.

The defection is seen as a significant political development in Akwa Ibom state, and is expected to have far-reaching implications for the state’s political landscape.

With Governor Umo Eno’s planned defection looming, the APC is poised to become a major force in the state’s politics.

As the APC continues to gain momentum in Akwa Ibom state, it remains to be seen how the PDP will respond to the mass defection.

One thing is certain, however: the political landscape of Akwa Ibom state is about to undergo a significant shift.
