Nigeria to Host 2025 International Civil Service Conferences, Says Walson-Jack
Nigeria has officially announced its hosting of the prestigious International Civil Service Conference scheduled to take place from June 25 to June 27, 2025.
The announcement was made by Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, during the May edition of the monthly Walking/Jogging and Aerobics exercises organized by the Federation of the Public Service Games (FEPSGA) in Abuja.
The conference, which will be part of the broader 2025 Nigerian Civil Service Week, is expected to bring together civil service experts, policymakers, and public administration stakeholders from around the globe.
The event aims to foster international collaboration, share best practices, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Nigeria’s public sector.
Mrs. Walson-Jack emphasized that the conference will serve as a platform for dialogue on transformative reforms and innovative approaches to public administration, helping to elevate the standards of civil service not only in Nigeria but also across participating countries. “This is a unique opportunity for Nigeria to showcase its commitment to civil service excellence and to learn from global leaders in public administration,” she stated.
The International Civil Service Conference will feature a rich agenda, including keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions designed to encourage knowledge exchange and capacity building.
Among the anticipated attendees are high-profile figures and experts from countries known for their robust and efficient civil service systems, including the United Kingdom and Singapore.
In addition to the conference itself, the Nigerian Civil Service Week will include various activities aimed at promoting unity, wellness, and recognition within the civil service community.
A special walking and jogging exercise is slated for June 28, followed by an Awards Night to honor outstanding civil servants and public sector achievements.
To ensure the seamless execution of the conference, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), chaired by Mrs. Deborah O. N. Odoh, Permanent Secretary of Service Policies in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, has been tasked with overseeing all aspects of planning and coordination.
The LOC will handle everything from logistics and venue management to stakeholder engagement and media communications, ensuring that the event meets international standards and garners widespread participation.
Mrs. Walson-Jack called on all civil servants and stakeholders to actively engage in the activities of the Civil Service Week, underscoring the importance of collective efforts toward achieving a more efficient, responsive, and innovative public service.
“As our Civil Service anthem says, we are marching to greatness,” she remarked, inspiring a renewed sense of purpose within the community.
The conference is expected to position Nigeria as a key player in the global civil service reform movement, opening doors for future collaborations and partnerships that will benefit the country’s governance and service delivery.
