Amaechi Laments Mismanagement of Nigeria’s Resources

During his 60th birthday celebration in Abuja, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs in Nigeria.
He stated that if he were in President Bola Tinubu’s position, he would have implemented similar policies, but with a focus on benefiting the general public rather than just a select few.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, criticized the nation’s politicians for prioritizing personal gain over the well-being of the country.
He argued that the lack of capitalist principles among politicians has led to a struggle over resource allocation, with the elite focusing on how to divide the nation’s wealth among themselves.
The former minister emphasized the need for politicians to put the nation’s interest first and work towards creating a more equitable distribution of resources.
He cited the example of the subsidy payments, which previously totaled around 4-5 trillion naira, and questioned what had become of that money.
Amaechi suggested that if it had been invested in the economy, the country would be in a better position today.
