Relax, No Cause for Alarm over 2026 Election, Oyebanji Tells APC in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has assured members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state that there is no cause for alarm regarding the 2026 governorship election.
Speaking at the monthly Evening of Praise and Worship programme in Ado Ekiti on Friday, Oyebanji urged party members to remain calm and have confidence in God, stating that his political future has already been divinely settled.
The governor’s remarks came in reaction to the official announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the Ekiti governorship election will be held on June 20, 2026.
Oyebanji, who described himself as “God’s project” and someone “on a divine mission,” expressed confidence that the 2026 governorship election is part of the divine plan that has already been settled by God.
“I have received over 200 messages today on the INEC notification, but I am not worried, I am excited. We serve a living God, and I have nothing to fear because doubt itself is a sin. I will never doubt the ability of God to get things done for me,” Oyebanji said.
The governor encouraged APC members to put their minds at rest, stating that the battle is of the Lord and that He has given them victory. Oyebanji also highlighted the APC government’s achievements in the state, citing milestones in infrastructure, education, healthcare, human capital development, and economic development.
“We have laid a solid foundation for progress in the state, and I have served the people with utmost sincerity in the last two and a half years. Our accomplishments are testament to our unwavering dedication to the state’s progress and a clear indication that the journey of transformation will only advance to greater heights,” Oyebanji said.
The event was attended by top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Monisade Afuye; the Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye; Secretary to the State Government, Prof Abibat Adubiaro; Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi; Chief of Staff, Mr. Niyi Adebayo; and Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ekiti State Chapter, Rev Emmanuel Aribasoye.
With the 2026 governorship election officially announced, Oyebanji’s assurance to APC members is seen as a move to boost party morale and confidence ahead of the polls. As the election season approaches, all eyes will be on Ekiti State to see how the APC will fare in the upcoming election.
