Tinubu Names Dogara as Chairman of Newly Created Governance, Coordination Council

President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, as the Chairman of the newly created National Council on Governance and Coordination (NCGC).

The NCGC, a brainchild of the Tinubu administration, is designed to serve as a think-tank and advisory body on matters of governance, policy coordination, and national development.

The agency’s primary objective is to provide strategic guidance and support to the federal government in its quest to deliver on its campaign promises and drive sustainable growth.

Dogara, a seasoned politician and lawyer, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019.

His appointment is seen as a strategic move by the Tinubu administration to tap into his expertise and leverage his network in the pursuit of good governance.

As Chairman of the NCGC, Dogara will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the agency, working closely with relevant stakeholders, including federal ministries, departments, and agencies, to identify and address governance gaps, and develop innovative solutions to drive national development.

The NCGC is expected to play a critical role in supporting the Tinubu administration’s agenda, particularly in areas such as economic development, infrastructure, security, and social welfare.

The agency will also provide a platform for engaging with civil society organizations, the private sector, and other stakeholders to ensure that the government’s policies and programs are inclusive, effective, and responsive to the needs of Nigerians.

Reacting to his appointment, Dogara expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him, stating that he is committed to working tirelessly to ensure the success of the NCGC and the realization of the administration’s vision for a better Nigeria.

“I am honored to be appointed as the Chairman of the NCGC, and I pledge to work closely with the President, the federal government, and all stakeholders to drive good governance and national development,” Dogara said.

The appointment of Dogara as Chairman of the NCGC is seen as a positive development by many, who believe that his experience, expertise, and passion for good governance will be invaluable assets to the agency and the Tinubu administration.

As the NCGC begins its work, Nigerians will be watching with keen interest to see the impact it will have on the country’s governance landscape.
