Tinubu Lauds Abiodun for Transforming Ogun State

President Bola Tinubu has lauded the exemplary leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, citing the governor’s remarkable achievements in transforming Ogun State’s infrastructure, economy, and residents’ overall well-being.

The president’s praise was conveyed through Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who represented him at a thanksgiving service marking Governor Abiodun’s 65th birthday and six years in office.

The ceremony, held at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta, brought together prominent figures, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Governor Olusegun Osoba, and traditional rulers such as the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Oludotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, and the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi.

Akpabio commended Governor Abiodun’s vision and commitment to public service, stating that the governor’s accomplishments have set a high standard for others to follow.

He jokingly expressed concern that Governor Abiodun’s achievements might surpass his own record as a former governor, but welcomed the healthy competition.

In his response, Governor Abiodun expressed gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate his birthday, his six years in office, and the conclusion of the National Sports Festival.

He attributed his success to divine guidance and acknowledged the challenges he faced at the beginning of his tenure, which have now given way to notable progress.

The governor rededicated himself to leading with humility, vision, and compassion, seeking continued prayers for success.

His commitment to the state’s development was evident in the testimonials from various dignitaries, who praised his efforts in improving infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

Bishop Samuel Ogundeji of the Egba West Anglican Diocese delivered a sermon titled “If It Has Not Been the Lord,” urging Governor Abiodun to remain thankful for his blessings and to recognize the importance of divine guidance in his life and governance.

The bishop cautioned the governor to be mindful of the delicacy of life, to beware of false friends, and to avoid distractions, emphasizing the need for self-reflection and hard work in the remaining years of his tenure.
