Team Delta Emerges Tops at 22nd National Sports Festival for Record Ninth Time

 

The 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF) came to a close on Thursday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, with Team Delta emerging as the overall champion for a record ninth time.

 

The team’s impressive performance saw them dominate the medals table, winning a total of 322 medals, including 122 gold, 95 silver, and 105 bronze medals.

 

Team Delta’s victory marked their fifth consecutive win at the NSF, cementing their position as one of the most successful teams in the competition’s history.

 

The team’s athletes performed exceptionally well across various sports, showcasing their skills and determination to bring home the top prize.

 

Team Bayelsa came in second place, winning a total of 221 medals, including 90 gold, 61 silver, and 70 bronze medals.

 

Team Ogun finished third with 210 medals, comprising 89 gold, 44 silver, and 77 bronze medals. Team Rivers took fourth place with 191 medals, including 74 gold, 56 silver, and 61 bronze medals, while Edo secured fifth place with 271 medals, consisting of 63 gold, 95 silver, and 113 bronze medals.

 

The 11-day-long sporting festival, which featured over 10,000 athletes from across the country, saw intense competition in 30 sports.

 

The event provided a platform for Nigerian athletes to showcase their talents, and many of them took advantage of the opportunity to shine.

 

Team Delta’s officials and athletes were overjoyed by their victory, praising the team’s hard work and dedication.

 

“We are thrilled to have emerged as champions for the ninth time,” said a team official. “Our athletes have worked tirelessly to prepare for this competition, and their efforts have paid off.
