I Won’t Pay Lip Service to Ondo Development, Says Governor Aiyedatiwa

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to meaningful and result-driven governance, declaring that he will not “pay lip service” to the development of the state.

The governor made this assertion on Wednesday during a public engagement forum held at the Governor’s Office in Akure, where he addressed a gathering of government stakeholders, traditional rulers, civil society groups, and the media.

Governor Aiyedatiwa stated that his leadership will be defined by action and impact, not empty rhetoric or unfulfilled promises.

According to him, the time for speeches without results is over, and the people of Ondo State deserve a government that delivers on its word.

“I want to be clear: I will not pay lip service to development in this state. Ondo deserves more than promises and speeches. It deserves real results, and that is what this administration is determined to deliver,” he said.

He noted that the state is facing a number of challenges across key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and job creation.

However, he assured the public that his government is actively working to address these issues through strategic planning and the efficient use of resources.

He highlighted several ongoing projects including the rehabilitation of the Akure-Ondo Road, revitalization of state hospitals and primary health centers, and improvements in public schools.

The governor also announced plans to introduce digital learning tools in secondary schools and to expand teacher recruitment efforts.

He emphasized that health and education will remain top priorities for his administration, stressing that a healthy and well-educated population is central to sustainable development.

Governor Aiyedatiwa further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility.

He pledged to ensure that all public funds are used efficiently and that citizens are kept informed of government activities through regular reporting and engagement.

“We are not just spending money—we are investing in the people. Every kobo spent must yield results. We welcome scrutiny and will be publishing detailed reports on all major projects,” he said.

He called on the people of Ondo State to actively participate in governance by holding public officials accountable and engaging with government programs. He maintained that true development requires a collaborative effort between the government and the people.
