President Tinubu Signs ECOWAS 50th Anniversary Card in Historic Chamber, Reaffirming Regional Unity

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the ECOWAS 50th Anniversary Card at the historic Conference Chamber where the founding treaty of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) was originally inked in 1975.

The event marks a powerful reflection on five decades of regional cooperation, integration, and collective progress. Standing in the very room where West African leaders laid the foundation for what has become one of Africa’s most influential regional blocs, President Tinubu paid tribute to the vision of ECOWAS’ founding fathers and emphasized Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to its ideals.

“This is more than a celebration , t is a recommitment. The unity and cooperation of West African nations remain our strongest tool in confronting today’s challenges and building a future of shared prosperity,” President Tinubu said.

The 50th anniversary of ECOWAS comes at a pivotal time, with leaders across the region seeking to strengthen economic ties, ensure peace and security, and promote democratic governance.

The signing of the commemorative card serves as a symbolic act of solidarity, renewing hope for the next chapter of ECOWAS’ journey.

Officials and dignitaries from across member states joined in recognizing the milestone, reinforcing a shared vision of integration and development for all West Africans.
