IGP Salutes Police Affairs Ministry for Donation of Light Tactical Armored Vehicles

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has commended the Ministry of Police Affairs for its recent donation of light tactical armored vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force, describing the gesture as a significant boost to the country’s internal security architecture.
The IGP made the remarks during a brief handover ceremony held in Abuja, where senior officials from the Ministry of Police Affairs presented the armored vehicles to the leadership of the Force.
According to IGP Egbetokun, the donation marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to modernize and strengthen the operational capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force. He noted that the tactical armored vehicles will enhance the mobility and safety of police personnel in volatile and high-risk operations, including counter-terrorism, anti-banditry, and anti-kidnapping missions across the country.
“This generous and timely support from the Ministry of Police Affairs demonstrates a shared commitment to national security. These armored vehicles will greatly enhance our response capacity and effectiveness in dealing with violent crimes and protecting lives and property,” the IGP stated.
He further praised the leadership of the Ministry for its strategic investment in police equipment, adding that improved logistics and resources are crucial for sustainable security reforms.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, reiterated the Ministry’s resolve to continually support the Nigeria Police Force with the tools necessary to perform their duties efficiently.
He emphasized that the armored vehicles are part of a broader government initiative aimed at repositioning the police for greater effectiveness in the face of Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
Security experts have also lauded the move, describing it as a step in the right direction, especially in light of increasing attacks on security personnel in certain regions.
This latest donation adds to a series of logistics and equipment support being extended to the police by both the federal and state governments in recent months.
It also underscores a growing recognition of the critical role the police play in maintaining law and order amid Nigeria’s complex security landscape.
The IGP concluded by reaffirming the commitment of the police to utilize the donated vehicles judiciously and continue collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure a safer Nigeria.
