Any Politician Thinking He Will Win Tinubu in FCT is Joking
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a strong political declaration, asserting that any individual or group entertaining the thought of challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dominance in the FCT ahead of the 2027 general elections is “only deceiving himself.”
Wike, who made the statement during a stakeholders’ meeting with community leaders, political appointees, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, emphasized Tinubu’s deep-rooted political strength, achievements, and the loyalty he commands within the nation’s capital.
“Let me tell you the truth and I say it without mincing words: anyone planning to unseat President Tinubu in the FCT come 2027 is only deceiving himself.
“The people of the FCT know who stood by them.
They know who is working. They know who brought results.”
Wike praised President Tinubu’s leadership style and development agenda, citing ongoing infrastructure projects, public sector reforms, and the restoration of order in the capital as testaments to his administration’s performance,” Wike declared to thunderous applause.
He continued, “This is not about empty promises or propaganda. This is about action and delivery. What the President has done and is doing in the FCT and across Nigeria speaks for itself. And the people will speak with their votes in 2027.”
Wike’s remarks come amidst growing political murmurs and opposition maneuvering ahead of the next general elections.
As a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political landscape and a former governor of Rivers State Wike has emerged as one of Tinubu’s staunchest allies within the federal cabinet, often defending the administration against critics.
While Wike did not mention specific political opponents or parties by name, his statement is widely seen as a warning to opposition elements planning to mobilize support in the capital traditionally a stronghold for opposition parties in past presidential elections.
Political analysts interpret Wike’s comments as both a show of loyalty to Tinubu and a strategic move to consolidate political control in the FCT, where the APC hopes to make historic gains come 2027.
With Nigeria’s political temperature gradually heating up ahead of the next election cycle, Wike’s comments underscore the growing battle lines between the ruling party and opposition forces.
As 2027 approaches, all eyes will remain on Abuja not just as the seat of power, but as a critical battleground where political giants are already laying the groundwork for what promises to be a defining contest in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
