I Have Nothing to Do with Anything PDP Involving Wike, Ortom, Vows Lamido
Former Governor of Jigawa State and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sule Lamido, has announced that he will no longer participate in any PDP activity that involves former governors Nyesom Wike and Samuel Ortom.
Lamido made this known in a statement on Monday, expressing strong disapproval of the roles played by both Wike and Ortom within the party.
According to Lamido, the two former governors have consistently acted in ways that undermine the unity and principles of the PDP. He accused them of putting personal ambitions above the collective interests of the party, especially during the 2023 general elections.
He said their conduct has been detrimental to the progress of the PDP and that he cannot, in good conscience, associate with them in any party gathering or event.
Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has remained a polarizing figure within PDP circles, with many questioning his continued influence on the party he allegedly turned his back on.
Ortom, although more reserved since leaving office, has also faced internal criticism for his political stance and decisions in the lead-up to and aftermath of the elections.
Lamido’s declaration adds to the growing tension within the PDP as the party navigates internal challenges and attempts to reposition itself ahead of the 2027 general elections. The PDP leadership has yet to issue an official response to Lamido’s position.
