Tobi Amusan Breaks Meet Record with 12.45s Victory at Rabat Diamond League

Nigerian sprint hurdler and world record holder, Tobi Amusan, delivered a sensational performance on Sunday night at the Rabat Diamond League, storming to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles with a blistering time of 12.45 seconds a new meet record.

The race, held at the Meeting International Mohammed VI d’Athlétisme, saw Amusan bounce back from recent fourth-place finishes in Xiamen and Keqiao with a commanding win against a world-class field.

The Netherlands’ Nadine Visser followed in second place with a time of 12.67 seconds, while Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska secured third in 12.69 seconds.

Amusan’s Rabat triumph is not only her fastest time of the season, but also a clear signal of her return to top form as she gears up for the World Championships in Tokyo and the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics. The 26-year-old currently holds the world record of 12.12 seconds, set at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

“This is the kind of momentum I’ve been working towards. Every meet is a step closer to my best, and today I’m grateful everything came together,” Amusan said after the race.

The victory places Amusan at the forefront of the 2025 Diamond League series and bolsters Nigeria’s medal hopes ahead of major global competitions. With her eyes set on Olympic glory, the African sprint queen has once again reminded the world of her dominance in the hurdles.
