Tinubu to be in Lagos for ECOWAS 50th Anniversary

President Bola Tinubu is set to travel to Lagos on Tuesday to participate in the 50th-anniversary of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and commission several key infrastructure projects in the state.

The ECOWAS golden jubilee events will feature a reenactment of the 1975 declaration at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, followed by a main event at Eko Hotels and Suites.

As the Chairman of ECOWAS, President Tinubu will highlight the bloc’s achievements and milestones over the past five decades.

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu’s visit to Lagos will also include the commissioning of several key infrastructure projects. These projects include:

Section I of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

Lekki Deep Sea Port Tax Credit Concrete Road

Flagging off of Section II of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

Flagging off of the 7th Axial Road

The commissioning of these projects is expected to have a significant impact on the economy and development of Lagos State and the country as a whole.

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, for example, is a major transportation project that will connect the southern states of Nigeria and improve trade and commerce in the region.

The Lekki Deep Sea Port Tax Credit Concrete Road is another significant project that will improve access to the Lekki Deep Sea Port, one of the busiest ports in West Africa.

The 7th Axial Road is also expected to ease traffic congestion in Lagos and improve the overall transportation network in the state.

The ECOWAS golden jubilee celebrations will be a significant event, marking 50 years of regional integration and cooperation among West African states.

The event will bring together leaders from across the region to reflect on the bloc’s achievements and challenges, and to chart a course for the future.

As the Chairman of ECOWAS, President Tinubu will play a key role in the celebrations, highlighting the bloc’s achievements and milestones over the past five decades.

The event will also provide an opportunity for President Tinubu to engage with other regional leaders and discuss key issues affecting the region, including trade, security, and economic development.
