Ibro Hotel Shut Down Over 26 Years Unpaid Ground Rent
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has sealed Ibro Hotel, located in Zone 5, Abuja, over a staggering 26 years of unpaid ground rent.
The action was carried out by officials from the FCTA’s Department of Development Control in collaboration with other relevant agencies.
According to authorities, the hotel’s failure to settle its ground rent obligations over such a prolonged period represents a serious violation of land use regulations and deprives the government of critical revenue.
A senior official from the FCTA, speaking anonymously, revealed that several notices and reminders had been issued to the hotel management without any response.
The official noted that despite repeated efforts to resolve the issue amicably, the hotel failed to comply, prompting the FCTA to take decisive enforcement measures.
The closure is part of a wider campaign by the FCTA to recover outstanding land charges and enforce compliance across the capital.
Property owners in Abuja have been warned to clear their dues to avoid similar punitive actions. Attempts to reach the management of Ibro Hotel for a statement were unsuccessful.
The FCTA reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring responsible land use within the Federal Capital Territory.
