Governor Sule Regrets Unfulfilled Projects as He Rues on Performance

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has openly expressed regret over certain unfulfilled projects during his administration, attributing the delays to initial challenges and unforeseen obstacles.

Speaking during a recent gathering with journalists and commissioners in Lafia, the state capital, Governor Sule emphasized his commitment to completing ongoing projects and ensuring that Nasarawa State remains debt-free by the end of his tenure in 2027.

He highlighted that his administration has successfully cleared all inherited debts, including bailout funds and other economic stimulus packages received before he assumed office in 2019.

“My first four years were challenging due to security concerns, inherited debt, and infrastructural deficits.

“However, we have now mobilized enough resources through prudent financial management to execute all ongoing projects without borrowing a dime,” Sule stated.

Despite these achievements, the governor admitted that some projects have not progressed as planned.

He cited temporary setbacks from contractors attempting to delay projects but assured that his administration remains focused. Notably, the Lafia flyover bridge is expected to be completed within the next three weeks, while the Akwanga flyover is slated for completion by June. Additionally, a new overhead bridge in Keffi has been approved and is expected to be completed by December 2025.

Governor Sule emphasized his administration’s dedication to industrialization and strengthening security in the state.

He highlighted the establishment of the Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy (NEDS) and the Nasarawa Investment and Development Agency (NASIDA) as key components of his industrialization agenda.

These initiatives aim to attract investors and facilitate the establishment of companies in the state.

In terms of infrastructure, the governor has approved over N30 billion for various projects, including the construction of an underpass and flyover in Lafia, as well as several rural development projects across the state.

These efforts are part of his broader plan to position Nasarawa State for industrial growth and leverage its vast mineral resources.

Governor Sule also addressed concerns about his administration’s focus on rural infrastructure, stating, “I am a rural dweller myself. I grew up in a village, so I understand village life. But beyond that, the wealth of Nasarawa State lies in the villages.”

He emphasized the importance of empowering rural communities to unlock the state’s potential.

As he continues his tenure, Governor Sule remains committed to completing ongoing projects and ensuring that Nasarawa State remains financially stable.

He called on government officials to join him in building the state and to shun the get-rich-quick syndrome, emphasizing the importance of integrity and dedication to public service.

While acknowledging the challenges faced, Governor Sule’s administration has made significant strides in various sectors, including security, investment, industrialization, education, health, and infrastructure.

He remains focused on sustaining these efforts to propel Nasarawa State towards greater development and prosperity.
