FG Bars 8 Foreigners Without Valid Visas from Entering Nigeria, Says Interior Minister
The Federal Government of Nigeria has denied entry to eight foreign nationals who attempted to enter the country without valid visas.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during a press briefing held in Abuja.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo stated that the individuals were turned back at various points of entry last week as part of efforts to uphold Nigeria’s immigration laws and strengthen national security.
“Last week alone, we turned back eight foreigners at our points of entry for failing to present valid visas.
“This action reflects our zero-tolerance stance on illegal entry and our commitment to maintaining the integrity of our immigration system,” the minister said.
He emphasized that while Nigeria remains open to genuine travelers, investors, and tourists, the government will not tolerate any form of illegal migration or breach of entry protocols.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo also praised the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) for its vigilance and professionalism in enforcing immigration regulations.
He called for continued collaboration among security and border control agencies to prevent irregular migration and related security threats.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s determination to ensure that all entries into Nigeria are done through legal and documented channels, in line with international best practices.
