APC Governor’s Endorsement of Tinubu Not Mockery of Nigerians, Says Gov. Sule
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has defended the recent endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, stating that the move is not a mockery of Nigerians but a reaffirmation of their commitment to national development and democratic consolidation.
Speaking to journalists in Lafia on Saturday, Governor Sule addressed criticisms from opposition voices and civil society groups who described the endorsement as “insensitive” amidst economic challenges and public dissatisfaction.
“The endorsement of President Tinubu by APC governors is a demonstration of unity and trust in his leadership. It is not a mockery of Nigerians, as some have claimed. We recognize the current difficulties but also acknowledge the reforms and efforts being made to reposition the country,” Sule said.
He emphasized that President Tinubu inherited numerous systemic issues and has shown courage in taking bold decisions aimed at long-term prosperity, particularly in the areas of economic restructuring, security, and infrastructure development.
Governor Sule also urged Nigerians to remain patient and hopeful, noting that the APC administration remains committed to the welfare of the people. He added that party leaders and governors are in constant communication with the presidency to ensure that policies are responsive to the needs of ordinary citizens.
“The endorsement is not about politics alone; it’s about ensuring stability and continuity in leadership that understands the complexities of Nigeria,” he said.
The APC governors’ endorsement comes amid growing calls for accountability and performance review of the administration, particularly in light of economic hardship, inflation, and insecurity in some regions.
Governor Sule concluded by encouraging constructive criticism and dialogue, but warned against politicizing every decision of the ruling party for partisan gains.
