Tinubu Approves Key Appointments Across Various Sectors

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointments of 10 individuals to key positions across various sectors.

The appointments, which were announced recently, cut across education, sports, social welfare, and population management, among others.

At the forefront of these appointments is the naming of Senator Ken Nnamani as the Chairman of the Nigerian Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

A seasoned politician from Enugu State, Senator Nnamani’s experience is expected to bring depth and strategic vision to the institution.

In the sports sector, former Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has been appointed as the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Sports.

This move is seen as a strategic step to revitalize the country’s sports development and competitiveness on the international stage.

Omobolanle Akinyemi Obe from Ondo State has been appointed as the Director-General of the National Senior Citizens Centre, Abuja.

This appointment underscores the government’s commitment to the welfare and rights of senior citizens, ensuring they receive the care and support they deserve.

Dr. Segun Aina from Osun State takes the helm as the Director-General of the Academic Staff College of Nigeria, a position that will be crucial in enhancing the quality of academic staff in the country’s tertiary institutions.

Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, a respected figure from Ebonyi State, has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Merit Award Committee.

This committee plays a vital role in recognizing and rewarding excellence and merit across various fields in Nigeria.

In a bid to strengthen bilateral cooperation and economic development, Mr. Ayodele Olufemi from Kogi State has been appointed as the Executive Director (Monitoring and Implementation) of the Nigeria–São Tomé Joint Development Authority.

Babaranti Ayandayo Rasheed from Osun State will serve as the Executive Director (Finance and Administration) of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), a critical role in supporting the agricultural sector through risk management and financial stability.

Hon. (Dr.) Asabe Vilita Bashir, a distinguished figure from Borno State, has been appointed as the Director-General of the National Centre for Women Development.

This appointment signals a strong commitment to advancing women’s rights, empowerment, and development in the country.

Lastly, Senator Jalo Zarami from Yobe State and Hon. Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu from Nasarawa State have been appointed as Federal Commissioners of the National Population Commission. These appointments are timely, given the importance of accurate population data for planning and development purposes.
