Delta LP Lawmaker Defects to Ruling Party, Cites Disorganization in Former Party

A member of the House of Representatives from Delta State, Mr. Ngozi Okolie, has abandoned the Labour Party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okolie, who represents the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, had previously won the seat by defeating Ndudi Elumelu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections.

At a press conference in Asaba, the Delta State capital, Okolie attributed his decision to leave the Labour Party to the unresolved internal conflicts plaguing the party.

He expressed his desire to join a more stable and organized party, which would enable him to effectively serve his constituency.

Okolie stated that he had consulted with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and traditional rulers in the state before making his decision.

He also noted that the governor and some PDP members had already defected to the APC, and he believed it was in the best interest of his constituency to follow suit.

The lawmaker emphasized that his primary concern was to attract projects and development to his community, and he felt that the APC was better positioned to support him in this endeavor. With two years remaining in his tenure,

Okolie is hopeful that his decision will yield positive results for his constituents.
