I Didn’t Meet Tinubu, May God Judge Us If I Am Working for the APC,.Says Damagun
The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagun, has strongly denied allegations that he is working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or that he secretly met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in England.
In a firm rebuttal during a press briefing held in Abuja on Friday, Damagun described the allegations as baseless and an attempt to undermine his leadership and destabilize the PDP.
“May God judge us if I am working for the APC. I have never met with President Tinubu in England or anywhere else. These claims are not only false but also a deliberate attempt to create confusion within our great party,” Damagun swore.
The denial follows mounting criticism from some members within the PDP, who have accused Damagun of aligning with the APC and betraying the opposition’s cause.
These allegations have fueled speculation of internal power struggles and mistrust ahead of the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Damagun urged party members and the general public to disregard the rumors, insisting that he remains committed to the values and objectives of the PDP.
“I am fully loyal to the PDP, and my actions have always reflected the best interest of the party. Those spreading these falsehoods should provide evidence or stop distracting us from our mission,” he said.
He also emphasized the need for unity and discipline within the party, calling on stakeholders to focus on building a strong opposition capable of reclaiming power at the federal level.
As the PDP continues to restructure and strengthen its internal systems, Damagun assured members of his transparent leadership and readiness to defend the party against all forms of internal and external sabotage.
The party leadership is expected to meet next week to address ongoing issues and reaffirm its strategy moving forward.
