Senate Urged to Focus on Security as Senator Ndume Proposes Picketing

During a recent Senate session, Senator Ali Ndume emphasized the need for improved security measures in the country.

Ndume praised the Senate for its efforts in supporting the government, but expressed concern over the current state of security.

The Senator suggested that the police adopt a picketing system, similar to what is used in Cairo, where police officers are stationed at regular intervals, typically every 200 meters, in the evenings.

This, he believes, would help to enhance security and prevent crime.

Ndume’s proposal comes as a response to the security challenges facing the country, and he urged his colleagues to take the issue seriously.

He also acknowledged the progress made by the government, particularly in the area of budget approval, which has enabled governors like Wike to implement their projects.

The Senator’s comments were made in response to a discussion on the state of the nation, and his suggestion on picketing is expected to be considered by the Senate as part of its efforts to address the country’s security challenges.

In a statement, Ndume said, “Instead of the police coming out at 4 o’clock to be chasing Goslow, we should introduce picketing… from 6 o’clock or 9 or 10 o’clock in the evening, you deposit or post police at every 200 meters.” He believes that this approach would be more effective in preventing crime and ensuring public safety.

The Senate is expected to continue discussing the proposal and exploring ways to improve security in the country.
