Security Operatives Nab Suspected IPOB Commander, Chubueze in Anambra, Recover 4 AK47 Rifles, Cache of Arms
Security operatives have apprehended a suspected commander of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Udebuan Sage Chubueze, at his residence in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to eyewitness reports and social media commentary, the suspect was arrested with gunshot wounds and found in possession of a significant cache of arms and military gear.
Recovered from the scene were four AK-47 rifles, two automatic pump-action shotguns, military uniforms, vehicles, and several rounds of live ammunition.
Authorities say the arrest followed a series of targeted intelligence operations linked to recent deadly attacks on security personnel in the South-East region.
Chubueze allegedly confessed to orchestrating and leading multiple assaults on police and naval facilities across Nkpor, Nnewi, and Nnobi.
These attacks, according to preliminary findings, resulted in the deaths of several law enforcement officers and the destruction of public infrastructure.
Sources within the security community also disclosed that the suspect’s base served as a logistical hub for the planning and coordination of militant operations in the region.
Though no official statement has yet been released by the Nigerian Police Force or the Department of State Services (DSS), the arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the government’s intensified crackdown on separatist violence in the South-East.
The Indigenous People of Biafra has been at the center of agitation for secession, with its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), accused of perpetrating violent attacks under the guise of regional self-determination.
Security analysts view this arrest as part of a broader effort to dismantle insurgent networks threatening national stability.
Further investigations are ongoing, and official confirmation is expected from security agencies in the coming days.
