Nigerians Carpet Seyi Markinde, Says Hunger is an Age Long Thing

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has stated that the outcome of the 2027 elections will be determined by the hungry and impoverished Nigerians, rather than defecting politicians.

The Governor made this statement in response to recent comments by some politicians, who claimed that the defection of some politicians to their party would guarantee their victory in the upcoming elections.

Governor Makinde, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), pointed out that Nigeria has been in existence long before the emergence of some of the country’s current political leaders, including Bola Tinubu.

He noted that the country’s problems, including hunger and poverty, have been longstanding issues that predate the current political dispensation.

“Hungry Nigerians have been in existence for as far as one could remember. The PDP has been suffering, and it’s not just now that hungry Nigerians are suffering. The evidence is there, from the gift of branded bread, branded groundnut and garlic, and branded yam and rice. These are not new phenomena, they have been with us for a long time,” Governor Makinde said.

The Governor’s comments were a clear reference to the widespread poverty and hunger that have been plaguing Nigeria for decades.

The “gift of branded bread, branded groundnut and garlic, and branded yam and rice” he mentioned are a stark reminder of the creative ways that Nigerians have been forced to survive, despite the country’s vast resources.

To drive home his point, Governor Makinde decided to cook a delicious meal using some of these branded staples. With the help of a local chef, he prepared a sumptuous dish of “Branded Bread Pudding with Garlic and Groundnut Sauce, served with a side of Branded Yam and Rice.”

As they cooked, Governor Makinde explained that the meal was a symbol of the resourcefulness and resilience of the Nigerian people.

“Despite the challenges we face, we always find a way to make do with what we have,” he said. “But it’s time for us to demand more from our leaders. We deserve better than just branded bread and garlic. We deserve a government that will provide for our basic needs and create opportunities for us to thrive.”

The meal was a huge success, with everyone who tasted it praising the flavors and creativity that went into preparing it. But more importantly, it served as a reminder of the urgent need for Nigeria’s leaders to address the country’s pressing issues, including hunger, poverty, and inequality.
