Tinubu Approves Enyiekere as Head, National Assembly Service Commission, Appoints Members

In a move aimed at bolstering the efficiency of Nigeria’s legislative arm, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given his nod to the appointment of Dr. Saviour Enyiekere as the helmsman of the National Assembly Service Commission.
This development is expected to have a profound impact on the overall administration of the country’s lawmaking body.
According to Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Dr. Enyiekere, a renowned environmental specialist who previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Senate President, will be at the reins for a period of five years, subject to renewal.
Furthermore, President Tinubu has also greenlit the selection of 12 commissioners, with each of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones represented by two individuals. The newly appointed members include Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi and Yusuf A. Yusuf Tabuka from the Northwest; Aminu Ibrahim Malle and Alhaji Lawan Maina Mahmud from the Northeast; Mark Hanmation Tersoo and Salihu Umar Agboola Balogun from the Northcentral; Taiwo Olukemi Oluga and Afeez Ipeza-Balogun from the Southwest; Dr. Nnanna Uzor Kalu and Festus Ifesinachi Odii from the Southeast; and Patrick A. Giwa and Mrs. Mary Ekpenyong from the Southsouth.
These appointees, like Dr. Enyiekere, will serve for a five-year term, subject to renewal. Their primary responsibility will be to provide oversight for the administrative functions of the National Assembly, ensuring that its activities run seamlessly.
