Jennifer Lopez Embroiled in Copyright Dispute Over Golden Globe Photos

Renowned American actress and singer, Jennifer Lopez is at the center of a contentious lawsuit, with photographer Edwin Blanco and his agency, Backgrid, seeking substantial damages for alleged copyright infringement.

The lawsuit, filed in response to Lopez’s social media posts featuring images from the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, claims that she utilized two copyrighted photos without obtaining the necessary permissions.

Lopez had attended the prestigious event on January 5, turning heads in a stunning white gown and faux fur coat. Subsequently, she shared a series of photos from the evening on her social media accounts, with the images quickly gaining widespread attention and being re-shared by fans and media outlets.

However, Blanco and Backgrid allege that Lopez’s use of their photos was unauthorized and commercially motivated, aiming to promote her fashion collaborations and brand partnerships. The lawsuit asserts that Lopez’s team had previously agreed to licensing terms but failed to finalize the agreement.

This is not the first instance of Lopez facing legal action over image rights. She has been involved in similar disputes in the past, including lawsuits filed in 2019 and 2020, for posting professional photographs without the photographer’s consent.

The current lawsuit seeks $300,000 in damages, with $150,000 being claimed per image.
