Governor Abdullahi Sule has officially declared his intention to contest the Nasarawa North senatorial seat in the 2027 General elections.

According to sources close to the Governor, Sule made his ambition known to his closest allies and party stakeholders, citing his desire to continue serving the people of Nasarawa State in a different capacity.

Governor Sule, who is currently serving his second term as Governor of Nasarawa State, is expected to leverage his experience and popularity to clinch the senatorial seat. His decision to run for the Senate is seen as a strategic move to consolidate his political influence and ensure a smooth transition of power in the state.

The Nasarawa North senatorial district, which comprises several local government areas, is considered a key electoral zone in the state.

Sule’s declaration is expected to generate significant interest and excitement among the electorate, as he is widely regarded as a strong contender for the seat.

While reacting to the development, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, who preferred anonymity, described Governor Sule’s decision as a “welcome development. The Governor has done incredibly well in developing the state, and his experience and expertise will be invaluable in the Senate,” the party chieftain said.

As the 2027 General elections approach, political analysts are predicting a keenly contested election, with several other aspirants expected to join the fray.

However, with Governor Sule’s declaration, the race for the Nasarawa North senatorial seat has undoubtedly become more interesting and competitive.
