14 Year Old Girl Hacked by 33 Year Old Man in Attempted Rape in Abia
A disturbing incident has unfolded in Obete Nchina Village, Ntighauzo community, Obingwa council area of Abia State, where a 14-year-old girl, Felicia Anaba, was brutally attacked by a 33-year-old man, Chinazum Nwaubani.
The victim’s father, Mr. Chijioke Anaba, reported that his daughter was hacked into a coma after she resisted Chinazum’s attempted rape.
The attack occurred while Felicia and her twin brother were collecting firewood in a nearby bush.
According to eyewitnesses, Chinazum approached the twins, armed with a machete, and attempted to force Felicia to undress. When she refused, he allegedly inflicted deep cuts on her head, leg, and hand, leaving her in a pool of blood.
The twin brother managed to escape and alerted their family, who promptly reported the incident to the police. The police responded swiftly, arresting Chinazum and taking Felicia to the hospital for treatment.
However, Mr. Anaba has alleged that the police at the Eastern Ngwa Division demanded N30,000 from him to register the case, which he claims to have paid.
He expressed concerns that the suspect might be released from custody, posing a continued threat to his family.
The police, however, have denied these allegations, stating that they have not received any official complaint regarding the demand for money.
DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed that the police had arrested Chinazum in connection with the attack and were conducting investigations.
The Abia State Police Command has assured the public that justice will be served in the case. DSP Chinaka stated that the police had not received any evidence of the alleged demand for money and encouraged anyone with credible information to come forward.
The command has also not commented on the mental health status of the suspect, despite claims by Mr. Anaba that the police had informed him that Chinazum was mentally deranged.
Mr. Anaba has appealed to the wife of the state governor, Priscilla Otti, to intervene in the case and provide assistance to his daughter, who may be permanently disabled due to the severity of her injuries.
