SOUTH East Tops Zones that Disposal Refuse through Government Bin

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has released data on the percentage distribution of households that dispose of refuse through government-provided bins across different zones in Nigeria.
The data, which covers the period of 2023/2024, provides insight into the refuse disposal habits of Nigerian households.
According to the data, the South East zone has the highest percentage of households that dispose of refuse through government bins, at 15.5%.
The North West zone follows closely, with 14.5% of households using government-provided bins for refuse disposal.
The data also reveals that the North Central zone has a relatively low percentage of households that use government bins for refuse disposal, at 8.5%.
The South South zone has an even lower percentage, at 5.8%, while the North East zone has 5.3% of households using government-provided bins.
The South West zone has the lowest percentage of households that dispose of refuse through government bins, at 2.4%. The national average for refuse disposal through government bins is 9.1%, indicating that about one in ten households in Nigeria use government-provided bins for refuse disposal.
