Lagos Constructs 61 Roads, Five Bridges in One Year

The Lagos State Government, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has made significant strides in infrastructure development over the past year, completing 172 roads and five bridges across the state.

This extensive effort aligns with the administration’s THEMES+ agenda, which prioritizes traffic management, transportation, and the overall welfare of residents.

As part of this ambitious push, the government completed approximately 178 kilometers of roads and 2.6 kilometers of bridges, transforming critical transport corridors and enhancing connectivity within the state.

Notable among the projects are:
• Dopemu Road Rehabilitation in Agege: This project aimed to ease traffic congestion and improve access to key commercial and residential areas.
• Abiola-Onijemo Link Road and Bridge in Ifako-Ijaiye: This new infrastructure significantly reduces travel time for residents and businesses, creating a vital link within the community.
• Irede Road Reconstruction in Amuwo-Odofin: This reconstruction effort improves accessibility to industrial zones and residential areas, supporting local commerce.
• Oyinkan Abayomi Drive Rehabilitation in Ikoyi, Eti-Osa: This project restores one of Lagos’s key waterfront roads, enhancing its scenic value and functional capacity.

In addition to these major projects, the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) intervened in over 459 roads across the state in 2024.

These efforts included full rehabilitations, sectional repairs, routine maintenance, and palliative works, ensuring safer and more efficient road networks for Lagosians.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of these projects in reducing travel times, enhancing safety, and boosting economic productivity.

“We are committed to building a Lagos that works for everyone, where infrastructure keeps pace with our growing population and economic aspirations,” he said.

The administration’s focus on improving road infrastructure is part of a broader strategy to enhance the state’s livability, attract investment, and create more opportunities for residents.

As Lagos continues to expand, the government plans to sustain its infrastructure drive, addressing the unique challenges of a rapidly growing megacity.

The state’s ongoing investments in roads and bridges reflect a long-term commitment to fostering sustainable development and improving residents’ quality of life.
